The time has come for one last hurrah, as just about everyone knows know, the Star Trek Experience in the Las Vegas Hilton, will be closing on September 1st forever. The Holodeck 3 and SubspaceLink Site Network team have been planning one final trip to the Experience to... Experience it one last time.
We here at Holodeck 3 are Very Excited about the upcoming Star Trek: Online MMORPG coming out from Cryptic Studios. In fact we were very excited about it back when Perpetual was producing it, and quite upset when Perpetual vanished without a trace.
Cryptic Studios, the video-game company that is now producing Star Trek: Online (after acquiring it from Perpetual Entertainment) is running a sweepstakes where they will be giving away 5 Lifetime Subscriptions to the upcoming Star Trek Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.
Star Trek is finally getting it's own SceneIt Game! But the developers need help. They are looking for Trivia Questions from Star Trek Fans, for the next 17 days you can submit your questions at sceneitstartrek.com for a chance to have your Star Trek Trivia questions become part of the game, and win cool Star Trek prizes while you are at it, talk about a Win-Win, I'm going to go submit questions myself.
I get a lot of flack for letting Holodeck3.com go offline for so long, and rightfully so, but I've personally had a lot of flack in my heart for the abandoning of Startrek.com by CBS. Startrek.com has been the premier place for Star Trek information on the web, indeed the only official place for Star Trek information on the web for over a decade, but in late December 2007, it appeared that the site had been abandoned.
Holodeck3 has been offline for quite some time now, the server I was running it on was starting to feel the sign of age, as was the CMS system I was previously using to run the site.
One hour ago Cryptic Studios announced the relaunch of the Star Trek online game. The game was previously being produced by Perpetual Entertainment. However when perpetual went out of business, the future of Star Trek: Online was unclear. For a while the official website was down, only to be replaced for months with a simple page saying nothing but "Coming Soon"
Rumors abounded that Cryptic Studios had picked up the rights to the game, but there was no confirmation of this.
Late last year an exciting exhibition of Star Trek was announced to begin a 40 city tour of the US, to begin at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, and visit 39 other cities over the course of a couple years.
