The trailer for the new Star Trek movie came out in theaters yesterday with the new James Bond movie, and some star trek fans have already put the new trailer online. I'll replace this with an official version when it is available, but here is the new trailer:

A few of our members met last Friday for one last last visit to the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas. This marked the 4th trip I've made there, the second for my wife, and the first for MrGoo.
I shall post a detailed review one last time of the rides and attractions in the next couple of days, but I wanted to share with you a flickr photostream of pictures I took with my iPhone at the experience.
The time has come for one last hurrah, as just about everyone knows know, the Star Trek Experience in the Las Vegas Hilton, will be closing on September 1st forever. The Holodeck 3 and SubspaceLink Site Network team have been planning one final trip to the Experience to... Experience it one last time.
Several members of the Staff will be there enjoying the Experience, This Friday, August 22nd, 2008, so if you are going to be in the Las Vegas area, come by and enjoy the Ultimate Star Trek encounter with us one last time, before it closes forever.

We here at Holodeck 3 are Very Excited about the upcoming Star Trek: Online MMORPG coming out from Cryptic Studios. In fact we were very excited about it back when Perpetual was producing it, and quite upset when Perpetual vanished without a trace.
To show our excitement, we've decided to put together a place for people interested in the game to Gather, so we've worked to create the beginnings of a Star Trek Online Unofficial Chat Network.
To kick things off we will be hosting a Chat during Cryptic Studios' webcast of their new game footage today. Cryptic Studios' webcast is at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time at startrekonline.com, but we welcome you to gather in #Startrek-Online on irc.stoirc.com during the session to chat with us here at HD3 and the SubspaceLink site network about what we are seeing when we watch the webcast together.
The first User Server in The Unofficial Star Trek Online IRC Network has been launched, you can visit it at amargosa.stoirc.com or you may connect to any server in the STOIRC Network by connecting to irc.stoirc.com. The Amargosa Chat Server, as well as our Services Server are provided by MrGoo, and Cap from Holodeck3.com and The SubspaceLink Site Network.

I get a lot of flack for letting Holodeck3.com go offline for so long, and rightfully so, but I've personally had a lot of flack in my heart for the abandoning of Startrek.com by CBS. Startrek.com has been the premier place for Star Trek information on the web, indeed the only official place for Star Trek information on the web for over a decade, but in late December 2007, it appeared that the site had been abandoned.
No new news has shown up in the News area of the site since December 18th, 2007, which was basically a goodbye message from the staff. The last STARTREK.COM newsletter I had received in my email was many months earlier, on March 27, 2007.
For months after Paramount announced that the Star Trek movie had been moved to May, 2009 instead of December, 2008 the Startrek.com homepage still showed a banner showing the December, 2008 date.
They eventually fixed the date of the Star Trek movie on the banner but the rest of the home page has stayed exactly the same since December 18th, 2007 when that last news article was posted.
But today... there was a glimmer of hope that StarTrek.com may not be as dead as we once feared. I received in my email a Startrek.com Newsletter again! If you haven't received this newsletter yourself, you can find it online here.
Sensors show life signs on startrek.com, live long and prosper! I intend to keep a close watch on the Startrek.com home page for changes once more.
