Today is Valentines Day, and despite what many of you will feel about this day celebrated for romance and scoffed for commercialism, it's a fair bet you are thinking about Romance in one way or another on this day.
TrekMovie is also thinking about Romance today with a revisit of an earlier theme of theirs, Star Trek's Most Romantic Moments.
I must say I agree with all of their choices for top romantic moments (and honorable mentions) except one. I never personally found Decker, Illia and V'Ger's merging particularly romantic from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, but perhaps that is mostly because of being completely weirded out by the situation.
In it's place I would choose the slow down time moment between Picard and Anij in Star Trek: Insurrection.
Whichever Star Trek moments you find the most romantic, I hope you are enjoying Valentines Day with someone you love.

Star Trek OnlineHolodeck3.com is now on Twitter, you can find us at http://twitter.com/holodeck3 And while we are on the topic of Twitter, we've launched a brand new Star Trek Themed URL Shortener as part of the services here at HD3, it's simply hd3.st.
We'll launch the public interface soon where you can shorten your own URLs using hd3.st, but in the mean time, every article on HD3 now has a "Short URL" shown on the right sidebar (for example, this Article's Short URL is http://hd3.st/llY).
Also under every article you will now find a Post on Twitter link which will let you post the story on Twitter using our new URL Shortener. Why did I pick hd3.st, well hd3 was easy, .st seemed the closest I could get to say .Star Trek, so that's what I picked. Enjoy, and be on the lookout for more great services from Holodeck3.
TrekMovie is Reporting, that CBS has decided to sell off assets from the original Star Trek: The Experience attraction in Las Vegas that closed in September, 2008.
Holodeck 3 staff visited the Experience days before it was shut down, and I can tell you it was sad to see the attraction already starting to be stripped to bare necessities (most of the shops were closed).
But there is hope. While the re-opening of The Experience in Vegas (At the Neonopolis Mall in Downtown Las Vegas) has been delayed several times (CBS and Neonopolis were originally hoping for a release to coincide with the new Star Trek movie), it is still ongoing, and CBS has decided that rather then try to re-use everything, a lot of the original pieces of the Experience will be rebuilt (or replaced with something new and different) in the new version.
They are keeping all of the Museum pieces to either continue to showcase at the new Star Trek Experience, or add to their collections on tour with Star Trek: The Exhibition, but many of the pieces originally created for the Star Trek Experience (including items such as the seats on the simulators) are being put up on a big Star Trek Yard Sale!
Yes, soon you will be able to own a piece of the historic 11 year run of The Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton, perhaps you could buy some original signage from the Promenade, or perhaps a set piece from their fantastic recreations of the Enterprise D.
In other Star Trek: The Experience news, while the original attraction may be gone, you can still take a look at it, as the "virtual tour" company DigitalProperties has created a site with many 360 degree VR images from the attraction as it was in 2008. You can visit the Virtual Star Trek Experience at startrek360.com.
According to TrekMovie, Sony has positioned the next Spider-man reboot movie to the 4 days after the announced date of Star Trek XII (June 29th, 2012) and has also announced that they are going to do the film in 3D. TrekMovie speculates that Paramount may respond by having Star Trek in 3D as well.TrekMovie: Sony To Release 3D Spider-man movie 4 days after Star Trek sequel — Will Trek go 3D too?
Many thanks go out to Roy Veldman, a long time member of HD3's staff, and owner of our sister sites: Acacia Fleet, Starbase 49 and the Startrek Wormhole, for creating this great new theme for Holodeck3.com. It's nice to have a theme again that gives us a view of what this site is about, rather then one of the plain normal drupal theme that was being shown before. We have a number of other changes in the works on HD3 to hopefully bring it back to it's former glory.
We have formed a fleet in Star Trek: Online, the new Star Trek MMORPG from Cryptic Studios. Holodeck3's official STO fleet will be the 47th Fleet. We will have new information here about the 47th fleet soon. In the process of setting up our fleet pages for the 47th fleet, we will also be revamping features of HD3, most notably the forums using plugins and theming to make them more prominent parts of the site.
We've also worked to make it easier to join and login to the HD3 site. This week we've added Facebook Connect as a way to login to this site. If you have never signed up for this site before, but are a member of Facebook, simply click the Facebook button under the login form on the left, and you will be able to create an account and log into it without ever setting up a username or password on the site.
Existing Members should sign into their account first, and then click on the My account link on the left, and from there they can associate Facebook with their account so that they too can use the Facebook button to quickly login to the site.
We have also added OpenID as an option to log into Holodeck3.com, so if you have an account with any OpenID provider, you can use OpenID to log into the site as well.
We will be adding other ways to sign into Holodeck3 in the coming weeks in our efforts to make using Holodeck3 as simple as possible.
Today at 6 p.m. Pacific Time, the public Beta of Star Trek Online will end. This coming weekend the Head Start will open up for people who have pre-ordered the game, and the game will finally launch after years of being under development by various studios, next week!
