Promotion and assignment (New position, new job, new feature)

Lieutenant WAZA has been promoted to Captain and given the position of Webring management. He will manage the moving of sites from the queue to the ring and other such tasks as soon as I get the webring up and running. You can see a very early beta of what the webring code-snip will look like on the bottom of the gateway into the subspacelink website but as of yet it's the only site in the ring. Congratulations on your captaincy Captain WAZA.

SubspaceLink PADD added

You've no doubt gone to the Star Trek Continuum (the official star trek website www.startrekcontinuum.com). Well if you've been around for a while and seen the Continuum when was http://startrek.msn.com/ you'll no doubt remember the old continuum PADD that was used for navigation and information. That PADD has since changed to its present form, but I always liked the old form. Well on the internet a friend of mine found that someone had used a screen capture of the original PADD to make an identical PADD. Anyway, I've modified that code a little bit to make my own PADD that looks like the old continuum PADD, you can check it out with the new PADD link in the navbar. Also, I've decided to start listing news flashes in the PADD, and there's a link on the main page to Sublink news flashes, which will open the PADD and show recent news in it. I'm currently working on making the NAVIGATION, SEARCH, and PERSONA links on the PADD work, right now they display a "This feature has not yet been enabled" screen. I'll get them working as fast as possible. First I'll create a navigational screen, then the search screen, then when the domain name comes back up, the PERSONA screen. Also, I'll be making other screens for the PADD and updating the newsflash display as well.

SubspaceLink stats added to the bottom of this newsletter.

Well, I've decided to start putting statistics on the bottom of the newsletter when I send them. At first this will consist of a number of members to the link, number of hits to the website at send time, and a number of posts to the message board, but when the domain comes back up I'll include more information (such as poll standings) when the domain name comes back up.

Will Voyager outlive its predecessors?

Well, a pattern of 7's have formed. Both TNG and DS9 ended after 7 seasons. So the question is, will Voyager live past it's 7th season? Will it even make it to the 7th season? Will there be nothing between Voyager's end and a new series? Will the new series even make it to production? What do you think? Drop me a message at [redacted] with a subject of "Will Voyager outlive its predecessors?" and I'll include some random thoughts from you in the next newsletter.
